The Littles

I haven't done a post on the goings-on of the girls in awhile, so I thought I would give everyone an update on how they are doing. Youngest Daughter is now in full-on potty-training mode.  She is doing rather well I must say.  After two weeks, when she feels she has to go, she will tell me and because of that, we have had very few accidents.  I am happy to report that when the accidents do occur, they are almost always on Handy Hubby's watch.  Why is that I wonder?  Those particular accidents are always large enough to have to drag out the mop.  Yikes!     Here in Arizona, the days are starting to warm up, while the evenings are still cooling off.  We are taking advantage of the last days of being able to play outside without worrying about heatstroke.     Oldest Daughter just got her first pair of glasses!  Her eyesight is fine, but we have to strengthen a muscle in one of her e...

New Music Tuesday (April 21, 2014)

Music is a very important part of my life.  It has been that way for as long as I can remember.  As I look back throughout the years, certain memories from my childhood as well as my formative teenage years are inexplicably tied to a particular song or a concert I attended or a group that I still have not been able to shake.  I can confidently say that Handy Hubby feels the same about the role music plays and has played in his life.  When I was pregnant with each of our girls, music was a nightly ritual, piped into my belly via massive headphones.  A different style each night - a different response from the baby each night.  Handy Hubby and I do not crossover much in the styles that we listen to, but we are both proud of the musical vocabulary we are imparting to The Littles.  Many a night has been spent listening to a CD (an age appropriate one, of course) while watching the girls dance.  Probably some of my favourite evenings, to...

It Is Well With My Soul

Image
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul.    It is well, with my soul, It is well, it is well, with my soul. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul. My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live: If Jordan above me shall roll, No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul. But, Lord, ’tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait, The sky, not the grave, is our goal; Oh, trump of the angel! Oh, voice of the Lord! Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul! And Lord, haste the day when the faith shall be sigh...

Self-Respect

Yesterday, Youngest Daughter and I decided to go to our local shopping mall.  Not to shop, but so that Youngest Daughter could get out of the house and play with other kids her own age.  I try to do this at least once a week.  Not just to the mall, but to the park, on a play date, splash pads, wherever I think she will have a chance to mingle. When we arrived at the mall, I noticed large amounts of "mom" vehicles pulling into the parking lot.  As we parked, I looked towards the mall and saw hordes of moms and kids hanging around the outdoor amphitheatre.  We decided to investigate the gathering, finding that it was the monthly kids' club meeting - complete with a person dressed up as a gopher, another man dressed as a jester and copious amounts of chocolate chip cookies - you know, the usual kids' fare.  We stayed for awhile, until it got too hot, then we headed inside to the air conditioned kids play area. This ...
