New Music Tuesday - June 28, 2016

We are in full swing of summer here at my house.  The days are filled with play dates, short excursions and grandparent time.  Sundays overlook a mostly empty upcoming week, but by Monday evening, every day is filled with some type of activity.  The first month of summer has flown by and I can say that I have mostly enjoyed this extra time with my two girls. This collection of music is a bit different than what I have given you prior.  There is no "pop" or "dance-y" sound to any of them.  They mostly have a harder, more Americana sound (even though Owl John is Scottish).  I have even included a throw-back Oasis tune.  I think it always appropriate to celebrate past genius.  Enjoy the tunes and I would love to hear your feedback on what I have included here or any of the music I have shared with you in the past.  Or, if you have suggestions, I would love to hear that as well!!  JCMT Owl John - "Two" Eve to Adam - "Piece of my Pride"

End of School Year

Summer is here!!!  We are beginning our second week of freedom and I have to admit, my favorite part (so far) is the sleeping in!!  True disclosure - I am not a morning person.  I detest waking to an alarm and I abhor happy, cheerful people in the morning.  My Littles have learned that morning hugs are about all I can handle for the first hour, or until I have had my first cup of hot tea.  Now that we are slowly falling into our summertime rhythm, I have been able to find the time to catch you up on our end-of-school year activities. Oldest Daughter started out the final month of school by participating in a school production of 'Going Buggy'.  The play was performed for the parents with each of the 2nd grade classes singing songs about, well, different types of buggies.  I regret to inform you that the video we took of Oldest Daughter dancing and singing was too big to include here, but I will share with you a cute picture of her looking like an ant. Next up, Youngest

Happy Tuesday!  Today I am sharing with you an international group of music-makers.  Jack White is American; Ella Eyre is British; Kings of Convenience are from Norway; New Hollow hails from Ontario; and Biffy Clyro are a British rock band that formed in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire.  I love that each group/singer playing here have their own unique sound and style.  Influenced by their environmental surroundings?  Maybe, maybe not.  But unique they are.  Enjoy!  JCMT Jack White - "Would You Fight For My Love?" Ella Eyre - "If I Go" Kings of Convenience - "I'd Rather Dance With You" New Hollow - "She Ain't You" Biffy Clyro - "Bubbles"

Mother's Day

From the title of this blog post, I suppose you think I will be writing about the cute, sweet things my girls did for me on this special-of-all-special days.  Well, that is partly true. As you can imagine, my girls did do a fair amount of notable things for me.  All were appreciated and will be retained for future ooohhing and aaahhhing reminisces.  Pictures were painted, cards assembled, a necklace made (complete with fingertip impression), and a precious coupon book with promises of services I have no intention of collecting.  Those were the cute things. Then there were the odd happenings of the day, starting very, very early.  Oldest Daughter chose to wake up at 2a, on purpose, to deliver a gift bag full of hand-made goodies to my bedroom door.  She wanted to ensure I would see the bag the minute I tripped over it as I exited the bedroom later on in the morning.  But, in the delivery process, she woke the dog, who then refused to go back to sleep.  Handy Hubby, assuming

Today is New Music Tuesday!!  Music posts are probably my favorite part of doing this blog.  I can research music all I want and it does not lead to any type of soul searching in order for me to share my findings with you.  It is quite time consuming as I prefer sampling groups and songs that are not found on mainstream radio, but the end results are so worth it!  You, the readers of this blog, have also suggested so many new groups (keep it up - I love the suggestions!!) that have then led me to other new and exciting groups.  I am bursting to start sharing with you part of my extensive list of fantastic music.  So, sit back and enjoy the euphonic stylings of today and I will be back with you later in the week with my next official ramble.  Cheers for now!!  JCMT (As always, you can click on the box to play the video, or the underlined name of the song/group is a link straight to the YouTube video.) Control

Guess who's back?  Wait - what? No. Guess again.  Yep, that's right.  Me!!  I have missed doing this blog post and communicating with y'all.  I have missed purposely tapping into this messed up brain of mine weekly.  I have missed sharing my innermost thoughts with you and receiving your feedback (even if your feedback is that my innermost thoughts are totally messed up).  I have heard from so many people over the past few months that they miss my ramblings and wish I would just get back to it already.  So, to feed a small part of my creative soul, I am resuming this blog.  Enjoy! _________________________________________________________________ Hello, my name is Twila and I have control issues. I may not attend a 12-step program, but my daily struggles with needing to control all things around me are oh-so-real.  To complete the package of me, I am also s tubborn, strong-willed, and when angry, I have the mouth of a trucker.  I am a Type A personality, as well as a

Today I Mourn

Today is not an ordinary day.  Not for me.  Today I mourn the passing of a dear friend.  She has been my companion for the past 18 years and losing her today has caused a small hole to tear in my heart. Kluny came to us a sickly, scrawny but vocal kitten at just five-weeks old.  She was very ill and for a few weeks we were not sure this world would hold onto her.  When she pulled through, she truly became ours. As Handy Hubby and I's first adopted pet as a married couple, Kluny has seen us through many life changes.  She was there in our first house together, she was part of the building of our second home.  She saw us through sickness, through three pregnancies and two births.  She has loved us through strife and through moments of joy.  She has loved my children and taught them many lessons on how to properly treat their four-legged friends. As Youngest Daughter and I held her as she slipped away, I shed many tears for my loss, all the while knowing she was on her way
