A Week in Review
The last few weeks have been busy. Living in the car, commuting from one appointment to the next were my reality on some days. Blogging, getting together with friends or just having relaxing down-time just could not be found on my agenda. Oldest Daughter was on Fall Break all of last week. Does it make me a terrible mom by admitting that I did originally dread her being home all day? I thought I would have to devise activities to keep her busy, plan play dates or day trips to make the time pass faster. But to my surprise, that wasn't the case! I very much enjoyed her week at home. We did have play dates, we did make some short trips, we did do art activities, but because we wanted to - not because I needed to fill up the days. My girls and I - we had fun! I would like to share with you some of the highlights from the past week.
I was fortunate to spend one of my evenings with the love of my life, Handy Hubby. We (meaning mostly I) enjoyed the stylings of my favourite band of the moment, The Avett Brothers. Handy Hubby purchased the tickets and was one of the first twenty to do so. This meant that we were able to enter Mesa Amphitheatre a half hour before the rest of the concert-goers to pick our seats. Or rather, standing spots. Our standing spots were at the stage! Being a short gal, this was quite exciting for me as I actually got to see the concert, instead of just listening to it while trying to catch glimpses of the stage between dancing people. It was a magical night!! If you are unfamiliar with The Avett Brothers, check them out here: here, here, and here.
During the last week, Oldest Daughter had a play date with one of her bestest buddies. They are so fun when they get together. Putting on concerts while dressed in fancy clothes - can it get any better?!
Two days after seeing The Avett Brothers, I had another fantastic date night with Handy Hubby seeing Depeche Mode in concert. I will go on record here to say that Depeche Mode is not in my top 100 of favourite bands. I didn't listen to them when they were in their prime, so to be honest with you, they are a bit foreign to me. But Handy Hubby, on the other hand, is a decades-long fan. And since I cajoled him into seeing The Avett Brothers with me, I had to return the favour. We were lucky enough to be joined by our fabulous friends Carl and Courtney Gordon, which made the good times better. The concert was good for me, fantastic for Handy Hubby. Another great night!!!
The rest of the week was spent outside enjoying the cooler weather,
and freaking mommy out with new places to climb up to....
We were also fortunate enough to be able to celebrate cancer research, family togetherness and Tia's continued remission - all the while being dressed like crazy pink people!
Oldest Daughter has since returned to school. I thought I would sigh a bit in relief. Not necessarily of her returning to school because I was sure that I would miss her happy, constant chatter throughout the day. But I was looking forward to a return to the semblance of a schedule, a routine. But yesterday, Youngest Daughter shoved a very firm pea up her nose. She was quite proud of her food-related act. I heard many times that day, "Pea in nose mommy. Funny". Maybe tomorrow it will be funny. All I know right now is that I spent the large majority of yesterday in Urgent Care having that pea removed, to the tune of a costly co-pay. Yep, maybe tomorrow it will be funny......JCMT

Oh, no...I'm glad they were able to remove the pea! This was an entertaining blog/photo post. I bet you'd be able to make some pretty fun YouTube videos. Keep writing!
