February Lust List

Image
My February lust list!!! I do currently have a rice cooker.  My opinion is that it's not so good.  Handy Hubby doesn't mind it.  But I feel that we have bad rice from it more often than we have good rice.  This one has separate settings for both brown rice and white rice.  You can cook oatmeal in it overnight (as well as any other grain), and it plays a cute little song when the rice is ready.  How can you not love that!! Zojirushi NS-LAC05 Micom 3-Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer I live in a house with two girls.  Oldest Daughter is six years old and obsessed with fairies and princesses.  This terrarium, with its' little fairies dancing among the flora, would make her head explode! 11" Fairy Terrarium I love purses.  And I love purses that come in colours that are appropriate for whatever season we are in.  As our household relies on just one income, my expensive tastes in pur...

Mommy Wear

Image
Since the cold weather floated in some time around December, my clothing choices on a day-to-day basis have grown quite casual.  Around the house I tend to wear my Dearfoams, house pants, a tee-shirt and a house sweater.  I use the term "house" only to describe clothing I would wear around the house, but would always change out of if I needed to leave the house.  I do own several house pants, two pairs of Dearfoams and many tee-shirts.  So every day it is a different outfit, but yet I look the same.  Around my house, style is nothing and comfort everything. I have come to realise that my winter wardrobe may need some updating.  Oldest Daughter made a comment that made me pause.  On this particular morning, I had gotten up, got dressed and was in the process of making breakfast.  Oldest Daughter came out of her bedroom and asked me why I was dressed all fancy.  Quizzically, I answered her back that I wasn't dressed all fancy - I...

Fantastic Room Friday - February 7, 2014

Image
It has been awhile since I have done a Fantastic Room Friday.  Not since the new year has started, anyways.  So I guess it is about time!!  As seems to be the norm, I am not actually showcasing a room.  Today I thought I would showcase stairs.  and not just any stairs.  Stairs with a rug runner!  I know, you can hardly contain the excitement building within you.  I get it - so I will just jump right in and put you out of your misery. I just love the look of stairs with a rug.  Not a single rug that sits on each stair.  One long, continuous runner rug. I think the runner just elevates the stairway from usual to extraordinary. And there is such versatility.  You could make any rug runner work, really.  The first picture featured a solid jute rug with a dark blue border.  The last two rug runners featured stripes.  Both different types of stripes patterns though, as well as different colours.  I sup...

Mourning

Image
I am in mourning.  I hate to admit it.  I hate that it's true.  But it is.  I am officially in mourning.  I mourned yesterday and I will continue to mourn today.  Then I will let it go and tomorrow will be the normal day I am used to having.  But to be muddy clear, it is not your typical type of mourning. A while back, Handy Hubby and I rented 'The Hunger Games'.  I hated everything about it.  Truth be told, I didn't even finish the movie.  I couldn't follow it.  I didn't care about the characters.  I didn't understand the backstory.  So I gave up on it.  Until I found out that the movie was based on the first book in a trilogy.  And, it seemed, a wildly popular trilogy.  So, I downloaded the book onto my Nook and started reading - hoping I could find the fantastic story I feel the movie missed out on.  I found it.  Then I devoured 'Catching Fire' and 'The Mockingjay'.  Once I...
