Mommy Wear


Since the cold weather floated in some time around December, my clothing choices on a day-to-day basis have grown quite casual.  Around the house I tend to wear my Dearfoams, house pants, a tee-shirt and a house sweater.  I use the term "house" only to describe clothing I would wear around the house, but would always change out of if I needed to leave the house.  I do own several house pants, two pairs of Dearfoams and many tee-shirts.  So every day it is a different outfit, but yet I look the same.  Around my house, style is nothing and comfort everything.

I have come to realise that my winter wardrobe may need some updating.  Oldest Daughter made a comment that made me pause.  On this particular morning, I had gotten up, got dressed and was in the process of making breakfast.  Oldest Daughter came out of her bedroom and asked me why I was dressed all fancy.  Quizzically, I answered her back that I wasn't dressed all fancy - I was just in jeans and a long sleeved shirt.  Her reply was "yeah, but you're wearing shoes".  I looked down at my feet and I was indeed wearing real shoes that were not my comfy slippers. When I was pregnant, never having been a mother before, I had expectations of what it would be like when my little one arrived.  These expectations were fed mostly by the media.  Commercials depicting pretty babies cooing at their mothers, giggling toddlers toddling about, cuteness when baby covers themselves in pureed food - you know, the normal happy scenes we should all expect as parents.  What I failed to notice were the fuzzy edges, the dead give-away that these social driven episodes were in no way rooted in reality. A Week in Review

The last few weeks have been busy.  Living in the car, commuting from one appointment to the next were my reality on some days.  Blogging, getting together with friends or just having relaxing down-time just could not be found on my agenda.  Oldest Daughter was on Fall Break all of last week.  Does it make me a terrible mom by admitting that I did originally dread her being home all day?  I thought I would have to devise activities to keep her busy, plan play dates or day trips to make the time pass faster.  But to my surprise, that wasn't the case!  I very much enjoyed her week at home.  We did have play dates, we did make some short trips, we did do art activities, but because we wanted to - not because I needed to fill up the days.  My girls and I - we had fun!  I would like to share with you some of the highlights from the past week.  I was fortunate to spend one of my eve...

Guess who's back?  Wait - what?
