New Music Tuesday (April 21, 2014)

Music is a very important part of my life.  It has been that way for as long as I can remember.  As I look back throughout the years, certain memories from my childhood as well as my formative teenage years are inexplicably tied to a particular song or a concert I attended or a group that I still have not been able to shake.  I can confidently say that Handy Hubby feels the same about the role music plays and has played in his life.  When I was pregnant with each of our girls, music was a nightly ritual, piped into my belly via massive headphones.  A different style each night - a different response from the baby each night.  Handy Hubby and I do not crossover much in the styles that we listen to, but we are both proud of the musical vocabulary we are imparting to The Littles.  Many a night has been spent listening to a CD (an age appropriate one, of course) while watching the girls dance.  Probably some of my favourite evenings, to be honest.  The girls have been exposed to opera, classical, country, bluegrass, electronica, rock and everything in between.

Which brings me to this post.  On my blog, I write and share about those things I deem important.  Or frivolous and light-hearted.  And everything in between.  So why not share music as well.  Starting today, I will be sharing weekly a few music videos of varying types of music.  Give them a listen and I am confident that you will find something that will draw you in.

Hozier, "Take Me to Church"

Bon Iver, "Holocene"

ShereKhan, "Skin"

The Avett Brothers, "Morning Song"

Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, "Falling Slowly" (Once)

If you are a subscriber and receive this blog via email, you will probably not see the videos within the email.  If that is the case, click here and it will take you to my actual blog where all of the videos will be there for the watching.  I would love to have your opinions on any of the five groups / songs I have chosen.  At the bottom of each post, you will see "No Comments".  Click on that and it will open a window for you to leave a comment.  If you have a group that you love and want to introduce me to, by all means - leave a comment!

On a bit of a different note, on my blog, listed at the bottom of the sidebar on the right is a section titled "Other Fun Stuff".  Take a look at the 'Books' page.  Here, I have listed all of the books I read in 2013 and what I have read so far this year.  I am constantly updating this section.  I am also constantly looking for new books to read and to recommend.  If you have read a book you think I might enjoy, leave me a comment.

Lastly, if you like my blog, please subscribe.  My new posts will go directly to your email and I promise to never sell your address or send you spam.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts or opinions.  Or being introduced to new music and books.  Let's make this an interactive blog!!  JCMT
