June Lust List

I may change the title of this post.  Or maybe not.  Haven't decided.  I have changed the format of the post a bit.  It's no longer what I am lusting after, but more what I am currently obsessed with.  Healthy obsessions, if there are such a thing.

TV Show - Arrested Development.  I know, I am a little late on this one.  But Handy Hubby and I just got Netflix and I have been bingeing on this show.  I loved the few episodes I was lucky enough to see when it ran originally, but now I just can't shake it.  I will probably go through withdrawals once I make it through all five seasons.  Luckily for me I am only half-way through season three.....

 
 Song - "Like Real People Do", Hozier.  Lyrics are quirky, melody just tends to get stuck in my head.  Can't shake it - don't want to.
 
Fashion Muse - Gwyneth Paltrow.  That is a strange thing for me to write as I am in no way a fan of hers.  But I will preface my choice of her as my June Fashion Muse in that I love the way she is dressed in the movie "The Talented Mr. Ripley".  Timeless and effortless summer fashions that would look good during an Arizona summer today or in three years. 
 
 
 
 
Colour - Blue and White.  I love this colour combination.  I am barely able to restrain myself from discarding all the colours we have in the house and start all over again with this colour scheme.  It is cool and refreshing in summer, warm and inviting during the winter.  And it looks good with a splash of bolder colours mixed in. 
 
  
Drink du Jour - Magners Irish Cider.  Yum!
 
 
 Guilty Pleasure - Ice Cream Sandwiches.  They don't have to be fancy, they don't have to be expensive.  They just need to be cold and tasty.
 
 
 Accessory - My Littles.  It is summer vacation and that means that Oldest Daughter is around a bit more than before.  The first few weeks were interesting as Youngest Daughter had to adjust to Oldest Daughter cramping her routine.  But now, we are all good.  Oldest Daughter is sassy and has lost privileges and earned herself many time-outs, Youngest Daughter is learning to stand up for herself against her older sister.  But for this short duration, these two gals are the things I never leave home without.


Trip Being Planned - Sometime in the near future, my father, both my girls and I will be taking a road trip to New Mexico to visit my grandfather.  I have not seen him, regretfully, in at least seven years, so this trip is overdue.
 
 I hope you like the new format of the Lust List.  I will play around with new titles of this post, see if I can come up with something a little less "Seven Deadly Sins"-ish.  JCMT

When I was pregnant, never having been a mother before, I had expectations of what it would be like when my little one arrived.  These expectations were fed mostly by the media.  Commercials depicting pretty babies cooing at their mothers, giggling toddlers toddling about, cuteness when baby covers themselves in pureed food - you know, the normal happy scenes we should all expect as parents.  What I failed to notice were the fuzzy edges, the dead give-away that these social driven episodes were in no way rooted in reality. A Week in Review

The last few weeks have been busy.  Living in the car, commuting from one appointment to the next were my reality on some days.  Blogging, getting together with friends or just having relaxing down-time just could not be found on my agenda.  Oldest Daughter was on Fall Break all of last week.  Does it make me a terrible mom by admitting that I did originally dread her being home all day?  I thought I would have to devise activities to keep her busy, plan play dates or day trips to make the time pass faster.  But to my surprise, that wasn't the case!  I very much enjoyed her week at home.  We did have play dates, we did make some short trips, we did do art activities, but because we wanted to - not because I needed to fill up the days.  My girls and I - we had fun!  I would like to share with you some of the highlights from the past week.  I was fortunate to spend one of my eve...
