Breast Cancer Walk
I would like to introduce you to a member of my family. We call her Tia. She is my Aunt and the family member I feel closest to. She is a fabulous Great-Aunt to my Littles, and she is a breast cancer survivor.
A few years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Through early detection, surgery, chemotherapy, sickness and tears, she was one of the lucky ones. She survived this ugly disease, and every day she celebrates her new lease on life. And every year, a small group of us celebrates her 'win' with her by participating in the breast cancer walk.
It's our way of saying 'we love you and we know how important this milestone is to you'. We are proud to do this with her each year as we know it's one more year she gets to add to her remission stats. And we get to celebrate this milestone again in just one month.
October 13, 2013, the 21st Annual Komen Phoenix Race for the Cure will be visiting the downtown Phoenix area. Our group will be walking again to support Tia and all of those ladies (and men!) that are either in the fight of their lives or celebrating a victory.
You can make an impact in the fight against breast cancer too! Register here to join us at the Race (you can even Sleep-In for the Cure® if you don't want to walk or run)! If you prefer to give a donation, you can do so here.
To the Kistner Clan - I would love to see ALL of you joining us to support your sister/Aunt. Those of you that are reading this and are not part of my family, I would still love to see you come out and support these survivors. In some way, most of us have been touched by breast cancer. Let's do our part by helping in the fight for a cure! Feel free to contact me for the details of where and when we will meet on October 13th. The more - the merrier!!! JCMT
