Where to begin!  There are so many things I love about this space.  First of all, I love the baby blue shutters.  These working shutters are a colour that I would not purposefully paint on the exterior of a house, but in this case, they do help soften the look of the stone.  They make the home feel more inviting.  Second, I just love the ivy.  The way it climbs up and across the face of the home lends to its' old world feel.  It blends nicely with the stone, and the homeowners have done a good job keeping the ivy controlled.  Third, I love the two seating areas.  What a lovely place to have lunch.  Or just relax while lounging on the day bed.  And fourth, I love the trees surrounding the property.  In this picture you only get a glimpse of the trees, but enough of a glimpse to tell you that you are in the high country.  Meaning, that it is not too hot to actually sit outside and eat lunch (you low desert Arizona people know exactly what I'm talking about).  I can already see myself drinking a glass of wine, noshing on finger foods and enjoying good conversation and beautiful surroundings.  JCMT

The Weekend

We have been a sick household since the middle of May.  Not all at the same time, cuz that's not how we roll.  One person at a time.  And we weren't just passing around the same sickness - oh no, we had to be individuals with our own special sicknesses. At two separate times, Mike and I had planned date days.  We had been SO looking forward to seeing "Fast and Furious 6" and our first date night attempt was the movie's opening Friday.  Nope.  I was sick and unable to get out of bed.  You can thank me later for sparing you the details. Second attempt was two weeks later.  Same plan - sushi and "FF6". Nu uh.  Mike was sick this time. Here's the deal.  Date days are rare for us.  We are raising two small children on one income.  Not looking for pity, just stating facts.  We get a date day only when all of the planets align and my Mom gets the right day off.  Though to be fair, Mike's folks were on th...

Lessons Learned from my 5-Year-Old

Eat only when you’re hungry. And there is no guilt needed if hunger calls to you 15 minutes after you have just eaten lunch. A fancy cereal box trumps the toy inside every time. Say hi to strangers. And I mean every stranger.  Especially when they look grumpy. Be proud of your tummy. Be willing to show that tummy to everyone.   Ask 'why' a lot. Do not stop asking 'why' until you are completely satisfied. When in doubt, make up a silly dance. Everything becomes clearer after a silly dance. Negotiate your destiny.   Stomp when you are grumpy. How will others know you are grumpy without the stomp?   Despise injustice.   Have a point of view.   Be easily bribed by sugar. Or afternoon movies. Drink from cups that make you feel fancy.
