Fantastic Room Friday

My personal home decorating style is 'simple rustic'.  I don't really think that that is a category.  I can't go to Barnes and Noble and find decorating books that cater to 'simple rustic'.  But that term is as close as I have been able to come to my personal aesthetic.  The bathroom pictured above is a perfect illustration of what I would put into my home.  Wood plank floors, farmhouse sink, natural light, simple mirror, simple vanity, and of course the claw foot tub.  I would probably have some type of painting above the tub, but it would not draw away from the simple aspects of this room.  I have thrown around the word 'simple' a lot in this post, but after looking at the picture above, it just fits.

Knock on wood that it continues, but it looks like my family and I are getting our first weekend in a long time - SICK-FREE!!! Whoo hoo!  We currently have no plans for the weekend, but that's not a bad thing.  Think we may take The Littles to the community pool.  Saoirse has been taking swim lessons and needs to practise her new skills.  I just got her a pair of eye goggles that she is anxious to try out as well.  Anyways, hope you have a fun, safe and sick-free weekend!  JCMT

When I was pregnant, never having been a mother before, I had expectations of what it would be like when my little one arrived.  These expectations were fed mostly by the media.  Commercials depicting pretty babies cooing at their mothers, giggling toddlers toddling about, cuteness when baby covers themselves in pureed food - you know, the normal happy scenes we should all expect as parents.  What I failed to notice were the fuzzy edges, the dead give-away that these social driven episodes were in no way rooted in reality. A Week in Review

The last few weeks have been busy.  Living in the car, commuting from one appointment to the next were my reality on some days.  Blogging, getting together with friends or just having relaxing down-time just could not be found on my agenda.  Oldest Daughter was on Fall Break all of last week.  Does it make me a terrible mom by admitting that I did originally dread her being home all day?  I thought I would have to devise activities to keep her busy, plan play dates or day trips to make the time pass faster.  But to my surprise, that wasn't the case!  I very much enjoyed her week at home.  We did have play dates, we did make some short trips, we did do art activities, but because we wanted to - not because I needed to fill up the days.  My girls and I - we had fun!  I would like to share with you some of the highlights from the past week.  I was fortunate to spend one of my eve...

Guess who's back?  Wait - what?
