Whew - What a Weekend!!!

How is it possible that a holiday weekend - three days of freeness - becomes anything but free?  I may have taken a long blink, and during that blink, my whole holiday weekend zoomed on by me to become a fuzzy memory.

Saturday, Youngest Daughter hit the latest milestone.  Well, I'm not sure that getting your first haircut qualifies as a milestone, but it is certainly a picture-snapping event in this house!!!  She was a trooper - not a single tear.  A little whining, but that quickly turned to "why are you making strange faces at me Sister?", hence the reason Oldest Daughter was asked to come along for the ride.  So, Youngest Daughter started out with a bit of a blond white-man-afro and a terminal case of old-man-comb-over syndrome...

During the haircut, I managed to snap several pictures of Youngest Daughter giving me the "I can't believe you are doing this to me and taking pictures of it" face....

But in the end, Youngest Daughter got a very cute haircut.  Though she still wouldn't smile for me.....

On Sunday, the "Twila" side of the family gathered at my Aunt and Uncle's house to celebrate Labor Day, one day early.  It was a nice day of food, catching up with and just enjoying the company of loved ones we haven't seen since Christmas.  Oldest Daughter went swimming with her cousin and I was so proud of her all over again - she was a regular little fish.  We failed to bring a swim suit, so Oldest Daughter had to borrow one from her cousin.  She was so excited about her suit as it was a 2-piece.  Handy Hubby wasn't too pleased, but Oldest Daughter had fun showing off her belly button!  She became very brave and jumped off the side of the pool into the water - for the very first time, I might add!!!  I, of course, missed it and the delay on Handy Hubby's phone meant that I saw the splash, but nothing else.  Sigh!!

Monday saw Handy Hubby and I purchasing a new car!!!  We traded in our 2003 Ford Explorer for a 2013 KIA Optima Hybrid.  It's so pretty.  And shiny.  And silver.  Me loves!!!  Handy Hubby is feeling a bit "crunchy" as it is part electric.  And a bit poorer as well.  Can we say "tighten the belt"?  JCMT
