Just Call Me Twilight: 2 Items

Halloween - what a fun holiday for the kiddoes!  I can honestly say that I am not a big Halloween fan.  But I do want to be a part of fun memories for the Littles, so I suck it up and we decorate, make pretty costumes and eat lots of candy.

Thursday night was fun.  Friday - not so much.  Friday was one of the rare mornings that I was actually happy to send Oldest Daughter off to school.  The child was grumpy.  We didn't get to bed much later than we normally do, but the excitement of Halloween, I'm sure, wore on through the night, causing a restless sleep.  This is one of the rare mornings, as well, that I felt sympathy for Oldest Daughters' kindergarten teacher.

Halloween morning started out well.  As Oldest Daughter could not wear her costume to school (not allowed by the school), both of my girls wore Halloween inspired shirts.  Thank you Grandma Karen!

Donning these shirts started the day on a giddy note.  Oldest Daughter practically skipped all the way to the bus stop.  Two hours into her school day, I was able to join her class as a volunteer, as we threw the kindergartners' a Halloween party.  What a fun experience for me as well as the kids!  There were game stations set up for them to play and win prizes (non-candy prizes at that!), craft stations and a spooky story station.  The party ended with a chocolate mummy cupcake and juice.  Thankfully then followed by lunch and recess.  Thank you Papa for watching Youngest Daughter so that I could volunteer!

It was so nice of Oldest Daughters' kindergarten teacher to not assign any homework that night, as there was a serious lack of concentration.  Once I picked her up from the bus stop after school, it was a constant barrage of "is it time to go trick-or-treating yet?".

After a bit, we got Oldest Daughter dressed up.

Front of Dress

She has such a handy daddy.  He made those wings himself.  Turned out beautifully.  They were so sparkly - the house is still covered in glitter.  Thank you Papa and Sue Sue for the lovely dress!

We then headed over to our friends Beth and Domingo's house, who have a first grade daughter, Anna, that is a particular friend of Oldest Daughters'.  We ate pizza, played and waited for the sun to go down. And finally, it did!  Now the real fun began!!

Youngest Daughter decided to be Peppa Pig, so yes, she is in the wagon with a pig hat on.  And the night was not complete without her making pig noises as they traversed the neighbourhood.

Loot was hauled and fun was had by all!!!  JCMT

Fantastic Room

Yep, this is a feature I normally share on Fridays'.  But it seems that this last week was so busy I was unable to get this out.  So, I guess it's better late than never!!!

surface mounted pantry door
My house does not have a pantry.  Well, it has a series of tall cabinets that I use as a pantry, but not a true pantry.  So I always daydream of what my organised pantry might look like.  And I think it may look something like this.

First, I love the sliding barn door.  I have seen this technique used for bedrooms and bathrooms, but never for any other room.  But it works.  Second, I love the tidiness of the shelves.  Everything in its' place.  Glass jars used for perishables, baskets for those things that need to be bunched.  I don't normally like things on the floor, but they have been able to utilise a bit of floor space without losing the neatness of the room or losing foot traffic space.

One day I will have a pantry too.  I just feel it in my bones!  JCMT
