My Favorite Part of the Day
Or you could make the argument that my favourite time of the day is when the clock ticks 7:45pm. Both girls are down for the night and we are safely past the point that Oldest Daughter feels compelled to come out of her room for some made-up reason to put off going to sleep. Yes, I do love that the rest of the evening is just for catching up and spending quality time with Handy Hubby. But it is not my favourite time of the day.
I could try to say that my favourite time of the day is my morning meditation. Meditation time, for me, revolves around tea. I love tea and I am a much better person after I have my tea. I take tea drinking one step further by making it the integral part of my morning meditation. The ritual of setting up the tea station, brewing the tea, doctoring the tea and the short wait for it to cool down so that it's drinkable is such an anticipated time of the day. I am mostly alone during this time as Oldest Daughter is at school and Youngest Daughter is watching Sesame Street. That first sip of tea is definitely my "AAAAHHHH" moment, but not the favourite part of my day.
My favourite part of the day is when I take Oldest Daughter to school. And no, not for the reason you are thinking. I love this time of the morning because of Oldest Daughter's anticipation of the day. She is already formulating who she is going to search out on the playground, what songs they are going to sing in Music class, or whether or not her best friend is going to like her new skirt. To some, this may just seem like mindless chatter. To me, this is music to my ears. I also love the walk up to the school, always filled with more formulating. I cherish the good-bye's at the school entrance; the hugs and kisses for both myself and Youngest Daughter. And most of all, I love watching her walk away from us, towards her classroom, occasionally looking back to throw us more kisses as I strain to keep that last little bit of her in sight. My big little-girl is starting her quest into becoming who she will be, and that morning trip to school reminds me of the excitement of it, every day. This is the favourite part of my day! JCMT
